Cabo San Lucas Attractions: Six Things to See Before You Go
If you’re planning a vacation to Cabo San Lucas, your days are sure to be packed with fun and excitement. No matter how busy your schedule, however, you’ll want to make room for some of the area’s top attractions. Here are six things in Cabo San Lucas you won’t want to miss.
The Cabo Wabo Cantina. The famous nightclub founded by Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar is still an attraction to see. Here, you can watch a live rock band performing - Sammy Hagar himself sometimes makes an appearance; dance to the music; and drink some delicious high-end Cabo Wabo tequila. The cantina serves breakfast and lunch; dinner can be had at the nearby Tequila Factory restaurant.
El Arco. This beautiful rock formation off the coast of Cabo San Lucas is visible from Medano Beach, where you can hire a glass-bottomed boat tour, a whale watch charter, or a diving or snorkeling tour guide to take you to see it up close. The waters around El Arco are clear and teeming with life, and it’s a popular site to snorkel, dive, and watch for whales. It’s truly one of the signature attractions of Cabo San Lucas.
Cabo del Sol Golf Club. If you’re a golfer, you won’t want to miss this attraction. This exclusive Cabo San Lucas golf club features the world-renowned Ocean Course. Strung out over 1.5 miles of coastline, this Jack Nicklaus Signature course has made the list of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World. Widely considered the most challenging golf course in Los Cabos, Jack Nicklaus himself has called it “the best piece of golf property in the world.”
Lover’s Beach. This secluded cove is hidden at the tip of Land’s End, surrounded by cliffs and accessible only by boat. It’s a perfect attraction for those looking to get away from the crowds and vendors at Medana Beach. The area features beaches facing both oceans. Swim only on the Sea of Cortes side - the Pacific side is too dangerous.
Sand Falls. Ninety feet beneath the waves, a stunning waterfall of sand cascades to depths of 120 feet and more, past hundreds of species of tropical fish and sea life. If you’re a diving enthusiast, you won’t want to miss it. This breathtaking sand chute was originally discovered by Jacques Cousteau, and it remains one of the chief diving attractions of Cabo San Lucas to this day.
Lighthouse of the False Cape. This lighthouse was built in 1890 to guide ships into port at Cabo San Lucas. It’s a ruin now, perched above gently rising sand dunes. The lighthouse is a common attraction on ATV tours and horseback riding excursions, and for good reason - in addition to the beautiful ocean view, you can catch sight of a shipwreck in the shallow waters below.
There’s so much to see in Cabo San Lucas. It can be tough to leave time to experience it all, plus leave room for the sport fishing, beach R&R, water sports, and the many other activities the area offers. If you miss a key attraction, don’t worry - you’ll always have a reason to come back.
